HVFD Responds to Chimney Fire, Conewago Township
Thursday, January 14th, 2021

Thursday evening just after 8:30pm the @HersheyFire along with mutual aid companies from Dauphin, Lebanon and Lancaster counties were dispatched to the 4000 block of Ridge Road in Conewago Township for a chimney fire. Londonderry Tank-54 arrived on location reporting heavy fire from the roof line.

Several handlines were placed in service coupled with an aggressive interior attack holding the fire from running across the main roof. Crews overhauled the area and placed salvage covers throughout the home to better protect the family’s property. The fire displaced eight. No injuries were reported. Companies remained on the scene for three-hours.

Monday nights are training nights for the volunteers of the Hershey Fire Department. This evening we trained on rescues over ladders and firefighter survival skills in the event that we would become trapped by fire and need to extricate the building.
